    Explorers Reflect and Review

6 March 2026 (by Andy Gilbert (Andy))

A busy week this week in Explorers!

It’s been assessment week this week across the school and the children have been working hard at challenging themselves. The year sixes have run to the SATs week structure, completing the papers in order and under exam conditions.

As writers, Beagle has been working on sentence structure and using accurate punctuation. Cook and Shackleton have been continuing their work on Cosmic, exploring creating slow motion and describing the moment in the text. In Maths, we’ve completed the assessments and our big maths. As scientists, we’ve been exploring gravity and creating space music, investigating the science of sound. On Thursday we celebrated world book day in classes, thinking about our favourite books and authors.

Next week we’ll be welcoming the Cyber Champions team on Wednesday to look at staying safe on the internet. On Thursday, the Adopt a School cooking crew who will be returning for their final session where we’ll be creating our own juices and practicing our decorating skills.

Thank you to everyone who has paid for the Hercules trip, we’ve sent out letters again. If you are having financial difficulties, please speak with us.

The festival will be taking place  on Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th May with some events taking place in the Institute in North Oxford (which is right next door to Somerville College) and others happening at Cowley Templar’s Square.
