From cyber champions to cooking whizzes - what a fun filled week!
An action packed week in Explorers this week!
On Monday we resumed our swimming and sailing and on Wednesday the cyber champions paid us a visit to talk about staying safe online. Many of the children were surprised to find that social media platforms have an age rating of 13+ and that Snapchat, Tik tok and instagram are not suitable for children in primary school!
Finally on Thursday we had the “Adopt a School” chefs in, where the children made their own fruit juice and decorated Easter cup cakes. The children learnt all about fibre and how we need to try and ‘eat the rainbow’ (sadly not skittles or M&Ms!)
As scientists, Beagle have been busy researching the different planets in our solar system ready to design and make their own Mars rovers next week. Endeavour and Endurance had fun when completing experiments to explore gravity and why it is important on Earth, and how it differs on the different planets.
As Mathematicians, Beagle have continued to work on closing their gaps, while Cook have been looking through last week's assessments to identify and focus on their gaps. Shackleton have continued to work on decimals, understanding the place value of tenths, hundredths and thousandths, and exploring how these can be demonstrated. Discovery have been working on finding the missing angles, both around a point and within triangles.
As Writers, Cook, Discovery and Shackleton have continued to work on Cosmic, developing high quality sentences to support us writing our own stories next week. We have focused on grammar styles, types of punctuation and the choice of language that we can use.
