    Hello children, parents and staff,

Today we had a very busy time on the allotment. It was sunny with a little bit of breeze. We did lots of jobs. First we planted the peas that you had sown in trays, in rows and put up a wire grid for them to climb up. Then we weeded round the fruit bushes and put bark down to try and stop the weeds coming back again. Weeded round the garlic plants and watered the broad beans in the polytunnel. Then Grandpa George and I sowed some parsnip seeds in a new raised box that we have made, some  lettuce seeds in a tray and in the polytunnel and some nasturtiums in cardboard cylinders in a tray. Nasturtiums are very colourful flowers in red, yellow and orange. Lastly we found a very green and wriggly caterpillar and dug up some leeks which we cooked for dinner. They were very tasty.
We hope you are all well,
    Grandpa George and Granny Crockett
