In Islands we are learning about ‘Extreme weather’. We are using Mantle of Expert to take on the role of a natural disaster assistant.
We asked the question- what will happen when natural disaster happens? Children made an Island and added the physical features we might find on an island.Children took on roles, becoming a hurricane. The question was- what are the consequences and how would this affect the people on an island? They became an Island disaster assistance team! They worked very hard by looking at all the people and human features that had been hit and destroyed by a hurricane.
Ask your children: what type of extreme weather can they list? Why does extreme weather happen and what are the risk?
