Islands Reflect and Review21 April 2023 (by Lauren Arbour (Lauren)) |
Our new topic ‘amazing places and spaces’ has really sparked the children’s curiosity and creativity. We started by exploring our local area and thinking about what physical and human features we could find.
The children thought about what they saw on their way to school or what they might find in local places such as Florence Park or Marsh Park. We made the most of the sunshine and took our classroom outside in the afternoon to do some sketching of our school and its surrounding features.
Next week we will be exploring our local area and taking a walk to investigate Donnington Bridge and the bridges that can be found in Florence Park. This will support our own bridge building skills that we will be carrying out in design and technology over the next two weeks.
On Tuesday, we will be taking part in our third Leider Project Workshop with John and his team of musicians We have written and composed our school school and we are now ready to sing and perform.
Lastly, golden time on Friday afternoon was a huge success! The children worked so hard completing their home learning to earn their golden time and were smiling and laughing all afternoon. Don’t forget to encourage and support your child to complete their home learning so that they can earn their golden time for next week. If they have misplaced their purple book or the new grid, it can be found on the website in islands curriculum-home learning.
Have a great weekend and Eid Mubarak to all those celebrating Eid this weekend.
