    Islands Weekly Reflect and Review

8 September 2023 (by Lauren Arbour (Lauren))

This week has been a busy week exploring The Ice Age in our topic 'Back to the Future'.

The children have really embraced their role in of being experts exploring life in the Ice Age. They have investigate what life was like during the Ice Age. How people survived during the Ice Age and what animals were alive during the Ice Age through stories, videos and enquiry based investigations.

The children across Islands have been getting to grips with their groups for various different lessons, becoming more autonomous in their own learning journey. As we are one phase, we ensure children have the opportunity to explore different lessons with different teachers as they all have different skills in delivering quality lessons. Please support your child by talking about their learning and the lessons that they take part in.

All children were sent home their purple home learning journey today. The expectation for home learning was explained in a notice for years 1-6, please email the islands email if you have any additional questions. Lauren explained, modelled and shared the expectations and how to log on with their independent logins. New White Rose Maths books will be sent out next week with instructions on what pages to do each week. All home learning should sent in on Wednesdays and will be returned to the children on Fridays.

Year 2- Literacy and Language group (select children) were sent home with their new spelling, punctuation and grammar book- this week they are expected to complete Page 4 only.

We look forward to another amazing week next week!

Have a great weekend, the Islands team.
