Islands Weekly Reflect and Review27 September 2024 (by Lauren Arbour (Lauren)) |
This week Islands have continued to explore what life on a farm might be like!
The children explored key features of a arable, dairy and livestock farm. They asked geographical questions and used simple map skills to navigate and create their own farms during their indoor plan and do time. One of the big questions this week- Can you describe any differences between urban and rural areas?
In ballet this week the children explored different movement patterns and posture techniques. We worked in pairs and individually to mirror different techniques, such as a Plie, Bendu and Glisse. Many children found balancing a little difficult to begin with but as the lessons progressed, they surprised themselves and were able to develop their skills.
As musicians this week the children have really embraced learning the song ‘Papageno’s Aria’ from ‘The Magic Flute’. Each week the children will continue to explore different features of the Royal Opera’s rendition of The Magic Flute and look forward to showcasing this performance at the end of the Autumn Term… watch this space!
Next week we have a very special delivery… Our eggs will be arriving on Monday!
Key Information:
All children should have received a trip letter. They are all very excited about our trip to the farm, especially as they continue to deepen their knowledge in farming and agriculture.
Your child will either attend on Monday 14th October or Tuesday 15th October. - If you are able to attend this trip to support your child and the class, please let Lauren know.
The cost for the trip and pantomime is £27 per child. Whilst this is a voluntary payment, if we do not receive sufficient funds to cover the costs we may have to cancel the trip.
Belongings- Please ensure your child has their indoor shoes and wellies in school next week as the weather changes we want them to be comfortable and be able to access the outside areas without ruining their school shoes. :)
