Islands Weekly Reflect and Review22 November 2024 (by Lauren Arbour (Lauren)) |
As designers in design and technology this week, the children in Islands have been inspired to create a couscous dish that is nutritious, delicious and cost effective
Across the week during our topic lessons, the children each thought about which ingredients they would like to add to their dish and why. They carefully designed which ingredients they would like to use and followed their designs during our cooking lesson on Friday.
All children were encouraged to try something new, exploring new tastes and textures. The children explored different techniques such as cutting, snipping, chopping, slicing and grating working towards their end product.
Next week we will evaluate and redesign a new couscous dish, improving our dish from this week. The children will have the opportunity to either bring new and exciting ingredients from home or use the ingredients that we have discussed and provided in class. If your child would like to bring an ingredient in from home, please send this into school on Thursday 28th November.
Children are encouraged to taste and share their creations at home- how will you eat yours? For extra house points- please send a picture of your child enjoying their cous cous at home islands@stfrideswides.co.uk
