Islands Weekly Reflect and Review21 March 2025 (by Lauren Arbour (Lauren)) |
As Musicians this week Islands took part in a workshop with Oxford Song. Each class had the opportunity to create lyrics and compose music to familiar songs- changing the lyrics to link to our topic Extreme Weather. This will be an ongoing project for the rest of this term, leading to a performance with another primary school before the end of term.
The children were keen to show John what they had been busy creating this week and he was impressed with what they had created so far. During the workshop this afternoon, the children learnt a new song which was created by the children in KS1 at North Hinksey. Islands children are keen to add some musical instruments to their creation and showcase this like the stars that they are!
Important Information:
Easter Bonnet Parade :
To confirm, we will be holding our annual Easter Bonnet Parade on Tuesday 1st April on the playground. Gates will be open from 2:00-2:10 - unfortunately if you do not arrive before 2:10 we will be closing the gates to keep the children safe and will not be opening it again until end of parade.
We ask that all children make an Easter Bonnet/Hat at home to wear for the parade. If you are unsure what an Easter Bonnet should look like please have a look on Google. Please bring your Easter Bonnets to school on Friday 28th March. During the Parade on 1st April there will prizes awarded for the best Easter Bonnets, judged by our school Ambassadors and all children will receive a chocolate treat for participating. Please arrive promptly for a 2pm start at the Anemones/Coral Reef gate where a member of staff will guide you to stand around the outskirts of the playground to allow the children to parade. We look forward to seeing all of your wonderful creations! Any questions please speak to Helen or Stefan.
